How this was measured

  • The release. Nonfarm Payrolls, Friday 2 October 2026, 8:30 am New York.
  • Prices. One-minute bid bars from Impact's price feed (the same data as Impact's charts), from two minutes before to 17:00 New York time. Market prices, not any one broker's execution.
  • Price just before. The close of the minute before the release.
  • Biggest move in the release minute. How far the price went from that level, either direction, during the minute starting at the release.
  • Against earlier releases. The count of earlier NFP releases since March 2021, in the full measured series, whose move as a share of price was smaller. Other US data often prints at the same moment, so each figure describes the market then, not one number in isolation.
